SUCCESS STORIES:

If you would like to share your foster or adoption story, please send us an email or give us a call and we will include it on our website. Remember we are always looking for more foster parents for our cats and dogs.

CHANCE:

Chance was found homeless living outside, having to fend for himself and find his own food. Chance was born blind and one has to wonder how he managed to survive. CCAD rescued him from animal control and brought him into our center. Cathy, one of our volunteers, fell in love with him, his strength, and his bravery, and adopted him. Below is her update:

"Chance is doing great. He and the dog (Max) are getting along really well. Chance butts head with him (in a loving way). I think Chance has found his Seeing Eye dog. We are still working on introducing the other cats. He is okay with them but they still hiss at him. He backs up when they hiss—doesn’t try to fight them. I think he knows I won’t let anything happen to him. He is the love of my life! My husband also is in love with him. He said the other night 'How can you help but love him?' Thank you all again for rescuing him from animal control and bringing him into my life! Cathy"

CINNAMON:

Cinnamon

Cinnamon was part of a group of feral kittens that were rescued by CCAD early enough in their life that they could be domesticated. Cinnamon eventually worked her way into the heart of one of our volunteers, who took her home. She writes, "Cinnamon has blossomed here and is really happy. She's become very affectionate and gets along great with our other cats. To see how well she's doing, just check out our online photo web-comic about our cats:

JOY: BEAGLE, FEMALE- CCAD RESCUED FROM ANIMAL CONTROL

Hi everyone!  We have been so busy lately that we haven’t been able to update you on Joy.  She is LOVING her new home on my mom and dad’s farm.  Even though dogs are not allowed on the couch there, my mom bought a special dog bed to put on the couch and now Joy sits in the bed and relaxes.  I call her, “Joy, Queen of Indian Head”!  She has lots of toys (including one of Olivia’s old baby dolls) and I think she believes they are her babies.  She gently carries them from room to room and surrounds herself with them when she sleeps.  You can tell she may have been hungry when on the road because she takes treats and hides them for later.  My dad keeps finding them in his shoes.

She is getting along famously with their other dog.  She is an older golden retriever who has had knee replacements and has picked up quite a bit of weight.  Lady is now slimming down because she has a friend to play with and who strolls around the farm with her.

This has truly been a blessing for all involved!  Thank you for allowing us to help in the adoption of such a great dog.

My best to all.

Colleen

CASPER: COCKER SPANIEL, RESCUED FROM ANIMAL CONTROL, HAD MAJOR EYE SURGERY DUE TO NEGLECT

Early this morning I went to my shop to
make yogurt and Casper did his daily snuffling in all the
corners hoping for a bit of cone or a stray cookie crumb.
Unfortunately for him the night girl is a super cleaner
and not a thing was to be found. Next we went to job one,
Saki Restaurant and while I did my thing, Casper curled up
on his bed and nodded off. All that hard snuffling wore
him out.

It is almost magical the way he has bonded to
me (and I to him). By the time I got him home he was
already “my” dog. He took a few days to settle, big
changes, especially with the 3 year old- but within a few
Days Finn was ecstatic with Casper, although he did
insist that he was a sheep!  Casper was calm and
gentle with Finn. Everyone in the family is crazy about
Casper and he gets heaps of  love, pets, and unlimited
walks.

I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to have this wonderful
gift that is Casper, he is a joy to have in my life and I
will be forever grateful that I did not miss the chance
of sharing time with him.  Hope you are all well and
Casey, I hope you will continue fostering these little
guys who so need a second, or third chance at a happy
home.

With much gratitude
