Chesapeake Cats and Dogs is a 501C(3) non-profit animal rescue organization. CCAD formed in 2006 and consists of a dedicated group of volunteers "working to provide a life of love and dignity for all animals."
ADOPTION PROCESS:
All of our adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. Dogs have been tested for heartworm, lymes and erlichia. Cats are tested for feline leukemia and AIDS. Veterinary references and a home visit are done prior to adoption approval. CCAD offers full support during the adjustment period following the adoption and are available for advice throughout the lifetime of your pet.
WHY ADOPT FROM A NO KILL SHELTER?
*The animals in our shelter are rescued from kill shelters. When you adopt from us, you are saving a life because you're allowing us to adopt yet more animals from kill shelters. We've developed relationships with various kill shelters so we can take animals out of their facility before they're euthanized. When you adopt from us, you are then giving this animal yet another gift: a family, love, life time committment, security and more.
* The animals in our shelter are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots (age permitting) and micro chipped.
* The staff in our organization is very familiar with each cat and dog, therefore, we have a high success rate with adoptions because we're able to successfully match humans with our adoptable animals. All our adoptable cats are in our center and are given a lot of one on one attention, we know all their personalities. All our dogs are in foster care. The interested adopter is welcomed to contact the foster parent who can give all the information you'll want/need to make the decision of adopting.
CATS AND DOGS IN ALL SHELTERS NEED A LOVING HOME: FIRST PRIORITY IS TO ADOPT A RESCUE FROM A SHELTER AND NOT FROM A BREEDER. JUST BE AWARE THAT WHETHER YOU ADOPT FROM A KILL SHELTER OR A NO KILL SHELTER- THE IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS: YOU ARE STILL SAVING A LIFE!
